Personalized Coloring Books

ColoringBooks

Simple, but fun. These are for the same set of kids as the star crayons. The images inside are from OpenClipArt.org & Clker.com, so I am not taking credit for the internal artwork. But again – they make for a fun & inexpensive gift. Also, kids love getting things with their names on them & they love coloring. At least, I’m pretty sure *these* kids do. I know my Yoo-hoo does.

Yoo-hoo picked out this snowflake to be in the coloring book. All the other images are winter themed as well. With a possible exception for the penguins driving a firetruck… But they’re penguins. So that counts as winter-y, right?

Paper Snowflakes

Snowflakes-2

These are a Christmas Classic! I love making these things & could probably make them anytime of year. This year, I sat down with Yoo-hoo & we made a few together. Some of them, I made by myself & some of them, he helped me with. I always try to make mine really different from each other, but he mostly wanted me to cut out small rectangle shapes. So his have a lot more paper left in them than mine do.

(Please forgive my poor photography)

I would fold the paper & pass it to him. He would draw the cut out shapes & pass it back to me. Then I would cut them out. Cutting through 12 layers of paper at once was hard on my grown-up hands. If I’d let him try, I was scared he’d injure himself, so this system worked out well from my perspective. He hadn’t ever made paper snowflakes before, & he really enjoyed it. He will most likely want to make more, every couple weeks, even when it’s not snow season. & I might be okay with that 😉

We did try out something new that I’d never seen done before. On some of our papers, we colored them with crayons before folding & cutting. So some of them have a color other than white. This is probably the cheapest Christmas decorating ever! But it’s also some of the most fun possible!

Hello & Happy Holidays!

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything & I have really missed my blog & hanging out online with my bloggy friends. In order to get back into it, I decided to dive in head-first, with The 12 Crafts of Christmas!

I don’t actually have a full list of twelve yet, so hopefully I will be able to come up with the finishing items before Christmas.

The 12 Crafts of Christmas #1 …

Star Crayons

StarCrayons-All

I found these on Pinterest. Someone helped her kids make heart crayons for their classmates for Valentine’s Day. I loved the idea & have always hated tossing out crayons. So I bought a Wilton star mold from the baking section at Michael’s & started breaking up the two boxes of random crayons I had sitting on my craft shelf. Most of them were from restaurants & were either generic brands, or I couldn’t tell what brand they were. If I could tell though, I tried to keep the same brand of crayons together, separate from the other kinds. The red, blue, & yellow are Prang, from Cracker Barrel. I think they worked out the best. The Crayolas worked really nicely too. Even the random generics turned out well!

Yoo-hoo & I are excited about the end results. These will mostly be gifted to kids his age for Christmas.

That is all from me for today. I will be posting The 12 Crafts of Christmas #2 tomorrow! I still need a few more quick crafts to round out my list of 12, so if you have any ideas to share, please let me know in the comments below! Also, I will be trying to catch up a bit on what everyone else is up to, so leave me comments letting me know what Christmas crafts you have planned for this year!
